Hello again readers, I’m back with you today to talk about one of the most powerful decks in format: Sablezard. As many of you know, I recently made Top 8 in Charlotte with the deck, only losing to some exceptionally poor draws with the deck into Miraidon on stream. Sablezard has also won and made Top 4 at the last two European Regionals. Despite this, it will still be woefully underrepresented in the meta and final standings of events. Why? Sablezard has a rep as the “easy” version of Lost Box, when in reality, it is one of the more skill-based versions of the deck. Sure, there are fewer moving pieces like multiple Mirage Gates, but the deck also requires a near-perfect ability to manage its resources and make the correct choices on almost every play. Almost every play in Sablezard has the potential to lose you the game if done wrong. Because of its reputation of easy, when players pick up the deck and do poorly, they almost immediately set it back down, blaming the deck for their losses.
Today will be a break-down of the list, and in-depth guides to many of the important matchups the deck faces heading into Knoxville next weekend.
