With every new set that’s released, I like to go back and look at some of the older cards that were good, but just not quite good enough to have a spot in the game. Every once in a while, there will indeed be something that has new life breathed into it because of a new card that helped it fix an issue it had. For instance, Arceus VSTAR brought cards like Malamar VMAX out of the depths of obscurity. In order to do this, it’s important to identify the cards in each new set that will have an impact on the meta to the point that older cards that have likely been hit by some level of power creep already, are actually viable. While I admittedly have been spending a lot of time on the SSH-BRS format for Secaucus, I’ve also been thinking about the cards in Astral Radiance quite a bit.
