Welcome back to another article! We’re coming off what might have been one of the most impactful weekends on the format in a very long time. There were three Regional Championships this weekend, and none of them went even close to what people would have expected. Frosmoth won a Regional, Vikavolt and Palkia won a Regional in the same deck, and Mewtwo V-UNION finally won an event. Duraludon also had another finals appearance, which I don’t think anyone would have expected either. All of these decks ostensibly beat Lugia, but whether that remains true going forward as Lugia adapts, will remain to be seen. Most of these decks will probably see some sort of play for the rest of the format, and that’s going to be a difficult thing for many decks to adapt to. Most importantly, Lugia is going to have to start choosing what matchups to fully adapt to. There’re finally too many dangerous matchups for a list to have answers for everything. This is very good news for decks that are taking close matchups into Lugia like the Lost Box Radiant Charizard deck I played in Toronto.
