Hey everyone! With NAIC coming up right around the corner I thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about what I believe to be a very underrated play for the event: Charizard ex/Pidgeot ex. I know what you’re all thinking, how can the most dominant archetype of the previous format be considered an underdog so quickly? The basic answer is that the deck has gained a couple of mediocre matchups with the advent of Twilight Masquerade: Dragapult ex and Raging Bolt ex/Teal Mask Ogerpon ex. This in tandem with what is expected to be a large spike in the playrate of Lugia VSTAR feels like a rough field for everyone's favorite Lizard. Despite what appears to be a field stacked against it, the deck remains an incredibly powerful threat and I think it has the potential to make a deep run at NAIC especially with the right list.
